Danner Boots Saved My Foot

by Kyle McGlamery, 6/3/2008

I am a Police Officer with the City of Conyers Police Department in Conyers, Georgia where I work as a K9 Officer. Last Christmas I purchased a pair of Danner Fort Lewis boots. These were the first pair of Danner boots that I had ever owned.

On August 28th 2007 I was called out from my house to assist our department with my K9 on a bank robbery. I got dressed and proceeded to work. It was raining very hard that day on Interstate 20. I hit a puddle of water and hydroplaned across the grass median striking the end of the guardrail on the opposite side of the road.

The area of impact on my vehicle was the driver side door. As you can imagine, the door crushed my legs breaking both of them. Upon impact, the arch of my right foot struck the brake pedal sideways. To give you a visual of how hard my foot struck the pedal, I completely broke the pedal off and my foot was turned completely around backwards. Thank God I was wearing my Danners because it saved my foot from being severed.

I have attached some pictures of my boots after the EMT’s cut them off of me. Notice the cut on the inside of the boot. This cut was from the brake pedal. It left a laceration on my foot that required staples. I am confident that if I had been wearing any other type of boot, that this cut would have possibly severed my foot.

Thank You.
